What is Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy?
ESWT is a non-surgical procedure that works by sending acoustic shockwaves to a specific area of damaged tissue within the tendon. This increases blood flow to the area which can activate healing and cell regeneration.
Patients from Esher, Hersham, Walton-On-Thames, Hamptonand throughout Surrey are turning to shockwave therapy at The Levitas Clinic in Esher especially when other treatments such as physiotherapy fail to ease symptoms.

What is the process for Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy?
A gel like substance will be applied to the affected area of your skin. A probe is then applied to the gel which sends a gentle shockwave to the injured tissue. The shockwaves are audible sound waves and are not electric.
This encourages the body to increase the blood circulation to the specific area and promotes healing.
Shockwave therapy usually lasts for about 20 minutes and is usually performed on a weekly basis for a course lasting between 3 and 5 sessions.
ESWT does not require any anaesthetic or sedation. Some patients from Hampton, Walton-On-Thames, Esher, Hersham, and throughout Surrey notice results immediately after having shockwave therapy. Others can feel the benefit after a few weeks.
At The Levitas Clinic in Esher, we will monitor your results and progress during and after Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.
